Monday Style Icon - Sophia Lauren
Welcome back! I hope Monday is treating you well! Even if it is far from being a fabulous day, I hope today’s post will put a smile on your face. Taking some time aside to put together an awesome outfit can make a day a little better! Out of ideas? No worries, I present you Sophia Loren!
She is one of the last living goddesses of cinema, Italian bombshell. Sophia will be celebrating her 82nd birthday this year, however she is still full of life and doesn’t cease to inspire! Vanity Fair writes: ‘One is instantly struck by her perfect posture and dancer’s walk. Wearing black slacks, a black V-neck sweater, and a silver-medallion necklace, she is the soul of elegance and timeless beauty’.
Sophia didn’t have the easiest of childhoods. She grew up in a poor family as an illegitimate child. But that didn’t determine her entire life. And although, she didn’t have an easy start in Hollywood either, according to Vanity Fair primarily because Italians were heavily stereotyped, in 1962 Loren earned a best-actress Oscar for her role as Cesira in Vittorio De Sica’s Two Women. In 2015 she was honoured with a life-time achievement award by the Americans for Arts non-profit organisation. The list of her achievements could go on and on!
Variety magazine writes that Sophia was nervous about her role in Two Women, but with her incredible talent and people who believed in her she delivered an unforgettable performance which led to the first Oscar ever presented for a non-English-speaking role.
I doubt that this does justice to her fabulous and mysterious persona but I do hope that this gave you some insight and inspired you to learn more about Sophia Loren!
