Monday Style Icon - Rachel Zoe
Rachel Zoe began here career as a very successful stylist. She has worked with many celebrities, including Kate Hudson and Keira Knightley. In the beginning, she even styled big music stars such as the Backstreet Boys, Enrique Iglesias, Jessica Simpson, and Britney Spears.
But since her styling days Zoe has also built a fashion empire. In 2011 she launched her eponymous contemporary collection, including ready-to-wear, footwear, and jewellery.
When it comes to her style, one thing that stands out is her consistency. Zoe is clear about what she likes and what she doesn’t, what she wants and what she doesn’t want. According to Harper’s Bazaar edit in chief Glenda Bailey, one can immediately identify a Rachel Zoe look — retro, glamorous, bohemian — but she still makes her clients look like individuals.
In an essay for Elle magazine, Rachel wrote: ‘The fashion director […] told me that to succeed in this industry I had to grow thicker skin and stop being so nice. The talk was discouraging and made me question my career choice for a while, but eventually I came to the conclusion that I didn't agree with everything she said. I did need to toughen up, and surviving the hardships with my boss made me realize that, but I believe people can be strong and nice at the same time.’
