Monday Style Icon - Lauren Hutton
At a young age, Lauren Hutton was told that she could not be a model because she had a gap in her teeth and because she was short. Despite that, Lauren went on to become a supermodel, a face instantly recognizable. She changed the face of fashion.
Along with her unconventional beauty, Lauren Hutton had too an unconventional career. After arriving in New York from New Orleans, where she'd been attending college, she did a three-month stint as a waitress at the Playboy Club. At the time Lauren was quite a tomboy with no modeling experience. But soon she was to achieve a massive success. In 1973, she landed a ground-breaking contract with Revlon. Hutton was the very first model to nab a beauty contract, and it was all her idea.
Being 100% honest to yourself, and knowing what does look good on you and what doesn’t, is what Lauren describes as a secret to great style. Considering that she has been around for a long time, Hutton’s style has evolved throughout the years. However, there is one look that doesn’t cease to inspire. It is the dress she wore to 1975 Oscars: a pastel colored Grecian gown paired with a metallic belt and a clutch.
Lauren Hutton is an example to all on how to achieve your dreams, even when everyone else says that you can’t!
